Wheeling Island Hotel-Casino-Racetrack and Southland Casino Racing, two Delaware North-owned gaming properties, gave local elementary schools in their communities a needed boost last week just as the new school year gets underway.

Two Delaware North locations reached out into their local communities over the past week to help children and families prepare for the upcoming school year.

The Boston Bruins, Boston Bruins Foundation and City of Boston this week hosted a ceremony to celebrate the reopening of a local community park after upgrades, including the addition of a street hockey rink.

Football for Peace (FfP), a global organization that uses football (soccer) to raise awareness of pressing social and environmental issues, received a big boost for its “Football for Peace Food Drive” campaign this month from Delaware North’s team at Wembley Stadium in London.

Following the recent SEC Tournament at Bridgestone Arena, Delaware North joined the Nashville Predators and other arena partners to donate several-hundred pounds of prepared but unused food to Room In The Inn, a full-service homeless facility in Nashville just blocks away from the arena.

As part of Delaware North’s ongoing “Game Changer” campaign in its gaming division, Southland Casino Racing recently presenteda check for $47,604 to Families in Transition,a local nonprofit organization.

The Boston Bruins have announced that the Jacobs Family, the Boston Bruins and the Boston Bruins Foundation have pledged a minimum donation of $100,000 to support the recovery of A.J. Quetta, a Boston-area high school hockey player who suffered a spinal cord injury during a game on Jan. 26.
