For the 18th time in franchise history, the Boston Celtics are NBA World Champions, defeating the Dallas Mavericks in Game 5 on June 17 at company owned-and-operated TD Garden. Delaware North’s team was there to fuel fans throughout the postseason with food and beverage specials, new retail offerings and activations.
After introducing specialty culinary and retail offerings during home games 1 and 2, TD Garden hosted fans for watch parties for games 3 and 4 while the team was away. The Delaware North team provided hospitality services for the events, including regular game-day concessions and a $5 value menu, along with limited-edition NBA Finals merchandise at the ProShop powered by ‘47.
The sold-out watch parties were a hit with the more than 15,000 fans who attended, infusing the arena with energy, cheering as they watched the Celtics on the jumbotron and enjoying the same entertainment amenities offered during live games, including Celtics dancers and concessions.
The Boston Globe covered the Game 3 watch party and fan experience: Around 8 p.m., the Garden was a sea of green. Seats were packed with fans wearing Celtics jerseys and hats, many holding hot dogs in one hand and a cup of beer in the other.
When the Celtics returned to TD Garden on June 17, they took the series and title with a 106-88 win over the Mavericks. In addition to a sold-out Game 5, The Hub on Causeway, Delaware North’s mixed-use development located adjacent to TD Garden, was filled with green and white during the NBA Finals, as many fans flocked to nearby restaurants and bars, including Banners Kitchen & Tap and Hub Hall, which are operated by Delaware North’s Patina Restaurant Group.
“The energy in Boston and at the Garden has been electric over the last two months with multiple playoff games and events during that time,” said Glen Thornborough, president of TD Garden and chief operating officer of the Boston Bruins. “It’s so impressive to see how our team has flawlessly executed each event and elevated our offerings to fans as the Celtics continued their path to the championship.”
