SunTrust Park restaurants raise more than $1,700 for local charitable organization

A pair of Delaware North-operated restaurants at SunTrust Park, Terrapin Taproom and Fox Bros BBQ, recently held a “Wake-n-Bake Off” fundraising event to benefit a local charity.

The event consisted of a cook-off in which chefs from restaurants in the surrounding area participated in a variety of competitions that were scored by both the public and a panel of judges.

The cook-off was broken down into several divisions: Sweet and Savory, as well as both Judges’ and People’s Choice. Participating restaurants included Fox Bros BBQ, Atlanta Fish Market, Grub Burger, Todd English Tavern, Feed Fried Chicken and Such, and Delaware North Sportservice chefs from SunTrust Park. The restaurants also donated raffle items that helped contribute to the overall proceeds.

Rory Bancroft, Delaware North’s executive chef of restaurants at Sun Trust Park, took home both the Judges’ Choice award and the People’s Choice award in the Savory Division with his porkbelly and jalapeno grits. Fox Bros’ wake-n-bake chocolate pudding also won the Judges’ Choice award in the Sweet Division.

More than 100 people attended the event, which raised over $1,700 that went directly to The Giving Kitchen — an organization that provides emergency assistance and grants to members of the Atlanta restaurant community who are in financial need as a result of an accident, unanticipated illness, or natural disaster.
