Hispanic Heritage Month is Sept. 15-Oct. 15 in the United States, celebrating the histories, cultures and contributions of Hispanic and Latinx Americans in the U.S. This month, people gather to enjoy traditional food, music, games and more in communities across the country. It’s also a time to learn something new about Hispanic and Latinx American’s rich history.
In recognition of Hispanic Heritage Month, Patina Group is spotlighting five team members who make magic at company-operated concepts at Walt Disney World Resort in Florida.
Jose Hernandez, prep cook at Space 220 at EPCOT, is originally from Mexico City. Hernandez embraces his Mexican heritage while crafting dishes that provide guests with an out-of-this-world dining experience.
Ronald Rodriguez, kitchen operations manager at The Edison, is from La Guaira, Venezuela, and he believes his background molded his strong work ethic, adaptability and deep appreciation for community. Growing up in a bilingual and multicultural environment, Rodriguez learned how to be resourceful and open-minded, enabling him to collaborate effectively with team members from different backgrounds.
Margarita Morillo, prep cook at Tutto Italia Ristorante at EPCOT, is from the Dominican Republic, where cooking is a way of life. She sees National Hispanic Heritage Month as an opportunity for Hispanic people to share their passion through food and hospitality.
Jesus Law, lead server at Morimoto Asia at Disney Springs, is originally from Barquisimeto, Venezuela. Law’s bilingual skills enhance his ability to connect with international guests and deliver exceptional dining experiences at the pan-Asian destination.
Gilberto Montero, prep cook at Via Napoli Ristorante at EPCOT, believes his Venezuelan background instilled a deep sense of tradition and community in him from an early age, which has fueled his passion for culinary hospitality.
