Southland Casino Hotel was recently profiled in a comprehensive Texas Lifestyle Magazine story that raved about the property as the ideal destination for fun, food and entertainment while visiting culturally rich Memphis, Tenn.
The magazine’s October edition, which reaches more than 900,000 readers, included a 10-page story, headlined “Vegas with a Soul: Making the Most of Memphis at Southland Casino Hotel,” written by Daniel Ramirez after a spring visit to Southland. Delaware North’s superregional casino in West Memphis, Ark., is located just over the Mississippi River from Memphis.
Ramirez wrote that modern travelers, though often inspired by history and culture in their travels, also look for excitement and adventure. “Luckily enough, Southland Casino in West Memphis offers the best of both worlds … (and) with its proximity to all
that Memphis has to offer, the modern and upscale accommodations of the Southland property make the reward of a visit to Memphis immeasurable.”
Throughout the article, Ramirez sprinkled in compliments of Southland, noting it has “some of the poshest hotel rooms,” a “spectacularly modern” gaming floor and “impeccable service.” He called the food and drink options “far beyond standard, even when compared to Vegas,” praising The Kitchens multiconcept buffet and Ignite Steakhouse, “a white linen tablecloth affair that serves up prime cuts that would be right at home in any major metropolis.”
Ramirez’s visit was part of Delaware North’s second spring media familiarization tour, or FAM, bringing top regional travel and national gaming media representatives to stay at Southland for three days and write about the casino and its convenient location near Memphis.
While there, the groups have also visited Graceland, the storied home of and museum dedicated to Elvis Presley; Beale Street, the historic entertainment district and birthplace of blues music; and the National Civil Rights Museum, which through interactive exhibits and historic collections tells the history of the American Civil Rights Movement and is located at the former Lorraine Motel, where civil rights leader Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. was assassinated in 1968.
In addition to the Texas Lifestyle Magazine article, coverage of Southland from the FAM visits has included Sophisticated Living in Nashville, St. Louis Magazine, AY About You in Little Rock, Ark., and Casino Player.
