Patina Restaurant Group teams up with nonprofit organizations in budding concessions program for PGA of America

Delaware North’s Patina Restaurant Group, the official catering partner for the PGA of America events since 2021, has worked with countless nonprofit organizations (NPOs) throughout the country in a growing volunteer concessions program.

“These collaborations enhance the event experience and serve as a powerful platform for raising funds for deserving causes,” said Ali DenDanto, human resources manager for Patina Restaurant Group. “It’s inspiring to witness the collective effort and impact
of these NPOs and volunteers coming together to support their missions.”

In preparation, Patina Restaurant Group reaches out to NPOs more than a year prior to PGA of America events about collaborating on ways to leverage the volunteer concessions program to support their causes.

Patina Restaurant Group has partnered with seven NPOs total to operate concessions stands at major PGA of America events in 2024 – the Men’s PGA Championship (May 13-19 at Valhalla Golf Club in Louisville, Ky.), the KitchenAid Senior PGA
Championship (May 23-26 at Harbor Shores Golf Club in Benton Harbor, Mich.), and the Women’s PGA Championship (June 20-23 at Sahalee Country Club in Sammamish, Wash.).

Patina worked with five local NPOs at the Men’s Championship in Kentucky, including:

  • Home of the Innocents, which provides residential and community-based behavioral health services, therapeutic foster care and adoption services, supportive services for young adults experiencing homelessness, and long-term care for children with complex medical needs.
  • Hope Collaborative, which provides spaces and trauma-informed programs where individuals can build strong connections with others in their community while they grow and heal.
  • Travel to Hope, which provides funding and support for cancer patients to travel to receive life-sustaining care.

Travel to Hope’s Executive Director Gretta Feldkamp shared a thank-you letter with DenDanto, highlighting the impact of its more than 70 volunteers who ran concessions at the Men’s PGA Championship. The volunteering efforts funded nearly 180 trips for cancer patients to receive medical treatment.

Patina Restaurant Group is providing $115,000 to NPOs this year through a combination of a guaranteed minimum to each organization that volunteers, percent of concessions sales, and donations directly from guests at PGA of America events.
