Melbourne & Olympic Parks confirmed its reputation as one of Victoria’s best entertainment centres and stadiums for hospitality, food and beverage when it was named the winner of the Restaurant & Catering Victoria Awards for Excellence Venue Catering Award 2009 this week.
The Melbourne & Olympic Parks complex entered the Victorian Caterers Hall of Fame at the 2007 Awards after winning the Event Caterer of the Year for three consecutive years, the only venue to achieve this feat.
The judging for the award took place during the record 17 Pink concerts held at Rod Laver Arena, and covered both corporate dining and catering to the public.
Delaware North, the caterers at Melbourne & Olympic Parks, also received nominations at the awards for their work at Melbourne Zoo, Etihad Stadium, The Terrace in the Royal Botanic Gardens and Sovereign Hill covering their work as venue and event caterers.
Brian Morris, Chief Executive Officer Melbourne & Olympic Parks trust, said the award was the result of the innovative approach to catering Delaware North brings to Melbourne Park.
“The Delaware North team has done a lot of work in the last couple of years to improve the standard of catering throughout the year at Melbourne Park.
“We have introduced healthier options, including meals approved through the Heart Foundation’s Tick program in public areas and Delaware North’s own Culinary Wellbeing program in corporate areas.
“The good news for everyone is that the team keeps searching for ways to provide better service and hospitality so we can make patrons’ experiences at Melbourne Park truly memorable.”
