Leadership at the Delaware North-operated Hamburg Gaming, near Buffalo, N.Y., recently recognized members of the security team for a heroic effort with a guest who had a heart attack.
Security Supervisor Joe Trzepacz, who is also an emergency medical technician (EMT), administered cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) and used an automated external defibrillator (AED) on the guest, while security guards Dave Gullo and Ashley Kurucz maintained a calm and secure environment, Hamburg Gaming management said.
“What was so astounding to me was the calm demeanor that all three associates displayed when I watched the surveillance tape,” said Hamburg Gaming General Manager Robert Puhalski. “No one panicked in a very demanding, stressful situation. They all had a hand in saving this gentlemen’s life. I am extremely proud of these exceptional Hamburg Gaming associates!”
In recognition of the job well done, Puhalski and Director of Security Jason Jelsovsky presented Trzepacz, Gullo and Kurucz with Lifesaver awards.
“Joseph, Ashely, and David are all humble individuals who were quick to recognize each other’s efforts before their own,” Jelsovsky said. “All three relayed the same subtle insistence that it was all in a day’s work, but I think I can speak for everyone here at Hamburg Gaming when I say that their effort was far more than ordinary. It was, in fact, life-saving.”
