Bill Renk, director of public relations and promotions at the Delaware North-owned-and-operated Jumer’s Casino & Hotel in Rock Island, Ill., was recently elected chairman of the Quad Cities Convention and Visitors Bureau.
The bureau in the Quad Cities – which consists primarily of Rock Island and Moline, Ill., and Davenport and Bettendorf, Iowa – is a somewhat unique tourism organization in that it’s jointly funded by multiple cities in two different states. This year marks the 25th anniversary of the organization.
Most recently, on the third of a four-day tour, the Illinois Office of Tourism brought its 2015 Travel Effect Road Show to the John Deere Pavilion in Moline to thank the Quad Cities Convention & Visitors Bureau for its role in the state's fourth consecutive year of record-breaking tourism industry numbers. Renk (pictured at right) welcomed tourism officials and guests, and spoke on the importance of the Quad Cities Convention & Visitors Bureau in respect to economic development.
