Just a few months since taking over food and beverage operations at San Diego’s Qualcomm Stadium, Delaware North Sportservice recently unveiled several new concessions and suite menu items for the 2015-16 San Diego Chargers season.
Delaware North obtained its newest contract for an NFL venue earlier this year when the company was appointed food and beverage partner of the City of San Diego at Qualcomm Stadium. The venue is not only the home of the Chargers but also the San Diego State Aztecs, Holiday Bowl and Poinsettia Bowl. Qualcomm Stadium also hosts concerts, such as the One Direction show in early July that was Delaware North’s first major event there.
Delaware North is hardly new to San Diego, serving as the San Diego Padres’ food and retail partner since Petco Park opened in 2003. In addition, the Chargers have enlisted Delaware North to operate their retail services at Qualcomm Stadium.
But food was the focus when Delaware North Sportservice General Manager Alex MacKenzie and Executive Chef Cole Chiaramonte showed off 10 new creations to the media, including all of the local television stations. Delaware North’s take on local cuisine received rave reviews.
KNSD NBC called the new menu items “mouthwatering.” Meanwhile, “New delicacies at the ‘Q’ unveiled for the 2015 Chargers season” was the headline from KFMB CBS 8. In an interview with that station, Chiaramonte, a San Diego native, said Delaware North works with local purveyors to obtain fresh ingredients to capture “the unique flavors of food here in San Diego.”
In addition, several of the new menu items were tweeted by popular ESPN sports business reporter Darren Rovell.
The new concessions menu items presented were:
