Casino Player and Strictly Slots magazines have recognized four Delaware Northowned-and-operated gaming locations – Southland Casino Hotel, Miami Valley Gaming, Wheeling Island Hotel-Casino-Racetrack and Mardi Gras Casino & Resort – with 60 different 2023 state-by-state gaming awards.
Southland Casino Hotel in West Memphis, Ark., grabbed 17 Casino Player Best of Gaming awards in the state, including 10 first-place awards: Best Hotel Staff, Best Suites, Favorite Casino Resort for a Staycation, Best Hosts, Best Comps, Best Dealers, Best Non-Smoking Casino/Area, Casino Where You Feel Luckiest, Best Video Slots and Best Craps. Southland’s second-place awards were for Best Overall Gaming Resort, Best Hotel, Best Hotel Lobby, Best Rooms, Best VIP Services/Lounge, Best Table Games, Best High-Limit Room, Best Blackjack and Friendliest Sportsbook (Betly Sportsbook). It placed third for Best Casino, Best Roulette and Best Prop Bets (Betly Sportsbook).
Miami Valley Gaming (MVG), the company’s joint venture with Churchill Downs Inc., took home awards for Ohio from both publications. Its 11 first-place Casino Player Best of Gaming Awards were for Best Overall Gaming Resort, Favorite Casino Resort for a Staycation, Best Casino, Best Players Club (MVG Club), Best Hosts, Best Comps, Best Promotions, Casino Where You Feel Luckiest, Best Reel Slots/VLTs (video lottery terminals), Best Video Slots and Friendliest Sportsbook (MVG Race & Sportsbook). In the Strictly Slots Best of Racino Awards for Ohio, MVG won seven awards: Best Overall Racino, Best Casino, Racino Where You Feel Luckiest, Best Fine Dining (Cin City Sea & Steak), Best Variety of Slots/VLTs, Best Comps and Best Simulcasting.
Delaware North’s two West Virginia casinos also garnered awards, with Wheeling Island Hotel-Casino-Racetrack in Wheeling winning awards in both magazines. Wheeling Island won four second-place Casino Player Best of Gaming Awards: Best Suites, Best VIP Lounge/Services, Best Poker Tournaments and Best Non-Smoking Casino/Area. It had third-place awards for Best Hotel Lobby, Best Hotel Staff, Best Poker Room and Best Roulette.
Wheeling Island took home seven awards in the Strictly Slots Best of Racino Awards for West Virginia: Best Overall Racino, Friendliest Racino, Best High-End Slot Area, Best Players Club (Lucky North Club), Racino Where You Feel Luckiest, Best Live Racing and Best Special Events.
Mardi Gras Casino & Resort near Charleston won Strictly Slots Best of Racino Awards for Best Casual Dining (Café Orleans), Best Lounge (Louie’s Lounge) and Best Simulcasting.
