Morgan Jarrett, executive chef of STATE Grill and Bar in the iconic Empire State Building, was recognized as a 2025 “Women in Tourism” honoree in the restaurant category by City Guide New York – the city’s original tourism guide since 1982. The recognition was announced during the fourth annual Women in Tourism Awards, presented by Delta Airlines, held May 20 at City Winery NYC.

Jarrett stood among a group of women representing the tourism and hospitality industry – including leaders in hotels, nightlife, retail, theater, tour operators and more. She accepted the award before an audience of professionals from the private and public sectors who support New York City’s vibrant tourism scene.

Originally from Texas, Jarrett’s culinary journey began at a wine bar and restaurant in Fort Worth before moving to New York City to study at the prestigious French Culinary Institute. She joined Patina Group as the opening chef for the Yellow Magnolia Café at Brooklyn Botanic Garden before taking the helm at STATE Grill and Bar in 2019.

Jarrett’s commitment to sustainability, local sourcing, farm-to-table fare and mentorship, including through Delaware North’s CHEFS® (Culinary & Hospitality Excellence for Future Success) program, highlights her impact in the kitchen and broader culinary community.

During the event, the National Academy Foundation also announced a college scholarship for a high school student aspiring to pursue a career in hospitality and tourism, emphasizing the importance of uplifting the next generation of leaders.
