Delaware North Opens Austin Warehouse District at Austin-Bergstrom International Airport

New retail concept celebrates history and culture of Austin's historic
warehouse district

BUFFALO, N.Y. (October 6, 2008) – Delaware North Companies Travel Hospitality Services, one of the world’s leading airport food and retail providers, opened the Austin Warehouse District in Austin-Bergstrom International Airport this September.

The concept celebrates the culture of Austin’s historic warehouse district and even looks like an old warehouse. The Austin Warehouse District store has four sections: The Taste of Texas, offering regional foods; Texas Souvenirs, selling Texas and Austin themed products; Sounds of Texas, a music store featuring local artists; and UT Merchandise, offering merchandise related to the University of Texas.

"Delaware North prides itself on developing concepts that help travelers identify with the places and regions that surround an airport," said Matt King, president of Travel Hospitality Services. "The Austin Warehouse District is a special retail concept that truly highlights the rich history of the Austin area. We’re excited it’s opened at Austin-Bergstrom Airport."

Austin’s historic warehouse district is located just west of the central business district in downtown Austin. It features trendy and modern restaurants, clubs, concert halls and bars. Live music can be found everywhere in the Warehouse District. Almost all of these distinctive bars are located in renovated warehouses.

Travelers can find The Austin Warehouse District store in the Barbara Jordan Terminal near gate 10. Delaware North operates a number of other food and beverage and retail concepts at the airport including the Austin Java, Salt Lick BBQ, Maudies Tex-Mex, Waterloo Record, Austin City Limits and Book People.

Delaware North Companies is a global leader in food service and hospitality with operations at such places as Wembley Stadium in the UK, Busch Stadium in St. Louis and Yosemite National Park. The company’s Travel Hospitality Services division operates at over two-dozen airports worldwide including Los Angeles International Airport, Detroit Metro Airport and Melbourne Airport in Australia.
