Asilomar Conference Grounds’ Executive Chef, Colin Moody, Receives Prestigious Award
BUFFALO, N.Y. (May 31, 2007) -- Asilomar Conference Grounds’ Executive Chef, Colin Moody, has been named the 2007 recipient of the prestigious President’s Award from the American Culinary Federation (ACF), Monterey Bay Chapter. The surprise honor, revealed during the 33rd Annual ACF Awards Gala, adds to a long list of industry accolades and accreditations that Moody has received during his impressive culinary career.
“Chef Moody continues to demonstrate an exemplary level of dedication to the ACF and is a great leader in the environmental awareness arena,” said Michael Gaines, chairman of the ACF’s Monterey Bay Chapter.
In addition to serving as president of the ACF Monterey Bay Chapter, Moody is also chairman of the ACF Conservation Committee – Organic and Sustainable Affairs. He has fostered relationships with local farmers and purveyors, which includes a partnership with Agriculture Land Based Training Association Organics (ALBA), an organization that teaches low-income farmers the art of organic farming. A thorough use of this knowledge results in a more profitable income for each grower and enables Asilomar to offer meals with day-fresh, locally grown organic produce.
Gains referred to Moody, saying, “His progressive approach to food purchasing and production principles using environmentally sensitive, sustainable and organic products in Asilomar’s culinary operations makes him a very deserving recipient of this award.”
