ARLINGTON, Texas (Oct. 9, 2023) – Delaware North, a global hospitality and entertainment company, today announced the debut of MLB™s first checkout-free store for fan apparel at the Texas Rangers Globe Life Field. At the new store, Easy Out, powered by Amazon Just Walk Out technology, Rangers fans will be able to try on and buy their favorite jerseys, T-shirts, caps, clothing and other fan gear, and simply leave the store without waiting in line to pay. Easy Out, located near home plate by Section 116, launched today, and will leverage Just Walk Out technology’s newest camera-free technology to offer an expanded assortment of Rangers clothing and soft goods to create a seamless shopping experience for fans.
At Easy Out, fans enter the store, take what they like, and leave through the exit gate by using their credit card or hovering their palm over an Amazon One device. Amazon One is fast, convenient, and contactless way for people to use their palm in everyday activities like paying at a store, presenting a loyalty card, entering a venue, or verifying their age. When they pass through the exit gate at the Easy Out store, the tags in their clothing and other apparel they pick up, are read by RFID readers in the exit area, and the credit card they use to exit (or the payment information linked to their Amazon One profile) will be charged. Shortly after exiting the store, customers will be able to access their receipt at https://justwalkout.com/receipts.
Easy Out is the third retail outlet at Globe Life Field to offer checkout-free shopping for Ranger fans. In March 2023, Delaware North and the Rangers launched two Express Grill outlets with Just Walk Out technology and Amazon One so fans could grab an assortment of food and beverages quickly and get back to the game without having to stand in long lines to pay.
“With Just Walk Out technology, we are helping create a whole new shopping experience for sports fans and customers,” said Jon Jenkins, vice president, Just Walk Out technology, AWS Applications.
“And at Globe Life Field, we are bringing our latest capability of Just Walk Out technology so Texas Rangers fans can grab clothes, hats, and other fan merchandise and simply leave the store through an exit gate even while wearing their purchases,” Jenkins said.
Collaborating with Amazon and Delaware North on checkout-free shopping venues throughout Globe Life Field has greatly enhanced the fan experience for game days and major events, which is always our top priority, said Rob Matwick, executive vice president of business operations for the Texas Rangers. The addition of the new Easy Out location, featuring Amazon’s latest cutting-edge technology, means our fans can now shop for their favorite Rangers T-shirts and Jerseys, feel the fabric, try them on, and simply leave the store without waiting in checkout lines. And setting up this latest Just Walk Out technology store was so quick and convenient for us.
“Our drive for innovation continually motivates us to improve service speed and convenience for our guests,” said Casey Rapp, general manager for Delaware North at Globe Life Field.
“After witnessing the advantages of Amazon’s autonomous shopping solutions in our food and beverage outlets, as well as how fast and flexible this technology can be to install, we’re thrilled to extend this experience to merchandise like clothing, hats and more,” Rapp said.
