ROCK ISLAND, Ill. — Jumer’s Casino & Hotel in Rock Island, Ill., supported Breast Cancer Awareness Month in October by conducting three fundraising events.
Associates at the Delaware North-owned-and-operated venue were given the opportunity to participate in two “Casual for a Cause” days — Oct. 21 and 25 — in which a $5 donation was made to wear jeans in lieu of the traditional dress code.
In addition, a special T-shirt was created by the marketing department that could be purchased to wear on the designated jeans days.
Jumer’s also turned to social media to help bring awareness to the cause. Jumer’s changed its Facebook profile picture and cover photo to include the message: “Breast Cancer Awareness, Stronger Together.” What’s more, the social media team ran a promotion that encouraged fans to post messages of support to those who have fought or are still fighting this disease; for every message that was posted, Jumer’s donated $1 to Komen Quad Cities.
Jumer’s donation to Komen Quad Cities totaled $1,835. Jumer’s also in June sponsored a 5K road race, Komen Race for the Cure.
