Two new retail concepts touch down in Detroit

With an ever-expanding retail portfolio, Delaware North’s travel division has opened two new retail stores at Detroit Metropolitan Airport’s (DTW) North Terminal in the past week.

Explore AFAR, a specialty travel and convenience store, is a partnership with AFAR magazine, which is an experiential travel publication. Through the partnership, the store features touch-screen monitors that give guests an interactive travel experience with AFAR content. The store also offers a wide array of products and lifestyle brands such as Baggallini handbags, totes and luggage, as well as TOMS footwear.

Local foods and souvenirs are also available, including Chronicle children’s books, Jelly Cat plush toys, and a wide selection of traditional travel amenities such as beverages, confections, salty snacks and ice cream novelties.

The Detroit News, a newsstand and convenience store concept, was created in partnership with one of the city’s major daily newspapers. The partnership allowed for creating an authentic sense of place for travelers to Detroit by capitalizing on the newspaper’s extensive digital archives to creates souvenirs depicting the city and its rich history.

Other offerings at the store include Detroit-area products such as Detroit Friends Chips, Dave’s Sweet Tooth, Detroit Popcorn, Cherry Republic, Calder’s Dairy ice cream, Germack salted snacks and Sanders candy.

Delaware North operates an array of food, beverage and retail concepts at DTW, including local favorites such as Gayle’s Chocolates, Hockeytown Café, as well as the recently opened Harvest & Grounds Euro-American café and Robert Mondavi Experience, a wine bar and bistro.
