Delaware North gives SXSW attendees an Austin-style hello and goodbye at the airport

The annual South by Southwest (SXSW) interactive conference and music festival brings thousands of visitors to Austin, Texas, and as it has done through the years, Delaware North’s team at the Austin-Bergstrom International Airport offered travelers a taste – and sound – of the town.
 
Aside from operating Austin-centric food, beverage and retail services at the airport, Delaware North also sponsors a renowned live-music program. In the spirit of the music festival portion of SXSW, which wrapped up Sunday, Delaware North added to its live-music schedule, said Terry Mahlum, a regional vice president of Delaware North’s travel hospitality business.
 
“The SXSW shows made for extra music fun added to the airport's usual live music performances,” Mahlum said. “Nine shows on Monday at Austin-Bergstrom closed out SXSW as they left our great city. Two of those shows were sanctioned shows by SXSW. We had a total of 40 live-music performances at the airport from the time they arrived on March 13 to when they departed on March 23. You can't get this type of entertainment in any airport around the world.” 
 
Among the airport’s performers were Curtis McMurtry — who was featured in a Rolling Stone piece as a must-see, country-music act at SXSW — and award-winning blues singer/songwriter Paul Oscher (pictured at right). Both artists performed at Ray Benson’s Asleep at the Wheel Stage.
