Delaware North, Honey Creek Resort donate $10,000 to local Iowa charity

MORAVIA, Iowa (December 4, 2018) – Honey Creek Resort, which Delaware North operates for the Iowa Department of Natural Resources, last month donated $10,000 to a local charity, Mary Sauter’s Pay It Forward.

Honey Creek raised $7,500 through two fundraising efforts and donated an additional $2,500 to reach the $10,000 mark. It fundraised through its inaugural six-week “Honey Creek Live” concert series, collecting individual donations at each concert and allowing Honey Creek associates to wear jeans on concert days for a $5 donation. The resort also raised money through a golf tournament at The Preserve, Honey Creek’s 18-hole championship golf course.

Mary Sauter’s Pay It Forward organization is based in nearby Albia, Iowa. Pay It Forward is a non-profit organization that assists local families in need of holiday gifts, winter coats and boots, and clothing throughout the year.

With Honey Creek’s donation, representatives and volunteers from the charity visited seven Target stores to stock up on toys and gifts. Associates from Honey Creek also volunteered at Sauter’s warehouse for several days, working to fulfill orders for the upcoming holiday season.

“One of Delaware North’s core values is ‘Do Right,’” and accordingly, we seek out opportunities to give back to the communities where we operate,” said Walt Kochansky, general manager of Honey Creek Resort. “We are proud to be able to contribute to a wonderful, local organization like Pay It Forward – especially during the holiday season.”

The Honey Creek Live concert series drew large crowds to Honey Creek Resort each week. The lineup featured local Iowa musical acts and nationally-recognized artists in pop-rock, country, folk rock, blues and funk.
