Jake’s 29° Sports Bar & Grill shines at local beer and bacon festival

Orange City Racing & Card Club’s restaurant, Jake’s 29° Sports Bar & Grill, recently served as a VIP sponsor and vendor at the Deland Bacon and Brew Fest.

The event — not far from the Delaware North-owned-and-operated gaming venue in

Orange City, Fla. — attracted an estimated 12,000 attendees and featured live music, beer-tasting from 25 breweries, a bacon-eating contest and dozens of bacon vendors.

In addition to sponsoring the event, which benefitted local nonprofit organization The
Neighborhood Center, Jake’s 29° Sports Bar & Grill set up a vendor tent to display its “Jake’s Signature Mason Jar Bacon” — going toe-to-toe with some of the best bacon in Central Florida.

Brian Sterner, division executive chef for Delaware North’s gaming business, created a unique bacon-on-a-stick in a mason jar that became an instant hit. Attendees of all ages stopped by to taste the thick-cut cherry wood-smoked bacon coated with Sterner’s signature “sweet-heat candy.” The item was such a hit that after only two hours, the Jake’s team had to make a trip back for more.

“These types of community events not only showcase our products but give us the opportunity to get to know the community we service,” said Fred Guzman, president and general manager at both Orange City Racing & Card Club and Daytona Beach Racing & Card Club.
