The Westin Buffalo this week announced that it is now offering guests voice-controlled access to iHeartRadio, the free, all-in-one digital music, podcasting and live-streaming radio service. The Delaware North-operated property becomes the first hotel in the world to do so.
Using technology from Volara, the leading provider of custom voice-based solutions in the hospitality industry, guests can access the iHeartRadio experience through the Amazon Echo devices in each of the hotel’s 115 guest rooms. When they say, “Alexa, Ask Westin to play the radio,” it will immediately launch Westin Radio by iHeartRadio, a live station with a mix of songs that align with the hotel's brand. In addition, guests can use their room's Echo to request services, get recommendations, and generally engage with hotel staff and services without the hassle of picking up a telephone.
The service also allows The Westin Buffalo to create original audio content, including podcasts, playlists, local personality endorsements and more, all voice-controlled and customized for its brand.
“The Westin Buffalo and Delaware North recognize the importance of providing innovative and memorable service to our guests,” said Tom Long, General Manager of The Westin Buffalo. “We were one of the first hotels in the country to implement the Relay robot butler and Volara-powered Amazon Echo devices, and we’re proud to be leading the way in offering guests this iHeartRadio experience.”
