Delaware North Completes Acquisition of Darwin Casino

DARWIN, N.T. – Global hospitality company Delaware North has completed its acquisition of Darwin’s SKYCITY Casino from SKYCITY Entertainment Group.

Completion of the deal follows receipt of regulatory approval of the acquisition from the Northern Territory Government late last month.

In addition, Delaware North announced the world-class hospitality and gaming venue would be renamed Mindil Beach Casino & Resort. With the acquisition complete, livery and signage featuring an exciting new logo and color scheme will start to appear throughout the casino and resort, and on uniforms, vehicles, casino collateral and other casino and resort marketing assets.

Delaware North Managing Director Gary Brown said the conclusion of the deal was an important milestone for the company in Australia as it added an internationally-renowned venue to the company’s growing stable of gaming and entertainment assets in the region.

Outlining his vision for Mindil Beach Casino & Resort, Brown said there is great potential for the venue to spur jobs for the local population and drive economic growth in Darwin, and that further entrenching itself within the Darwin community was integral to this.

“We see Mindil Beach Casino & Resort as having the potential to be Darwin’s premier entertainment venue, which is what appealed to us most about pursuing the opportunity to add it to our portfolio of gaming and hospitality venues in the region,” Brown said.

“Our team is exploring steps we can take to enhance what is already a terrific operation, such as infusing the international experience of Delaware North’s culinary team to enhance dining experiences throughout the resort, along with property-wide improvements to broaden appeal to new local, interstate and international guests.”

Brown said Delaware North would also explore opportunities to enhance the casino’s gaming offerings with new machines and gaming options.

“As a family-owned-and-operated company with a successful track record running gaming and resort venues around the world, we recognize the important contribution our staff has made to our success, and if there are opportunities for team members to gain experience working at any of our other venues, we’re more than happy to explore them,” Brown said.

“We warmly welcome the Mindil Beach Casino & Resort staff to the broader Delaware North family and look forward to them playing an important role in the venue’s future growth and success.”
