The GreenPath teams at Hamburg Gaming in Hamburg, N.Y., and SunTrust Park in Atlanta recently held e-waste drives to collect old and unused electronic products from the community so the waste can be disposed of in an eco-friendly manner.

At Hamburg Gaming, which hosted its sixth annual e-waste drive, volunteers partnered with SunnKing, a local electronics recycler, to gather unwanted televisions, computers, printers and other miscellaneous electronics from the public. In total, the team collected 39,632 pounds of e-waste, a 34 percent increase from last year’s haul, which included nearly 20,000 pounds of cathode-ray tube televisions alone. Even more impressive, this year’s drive lasted only four hours — half the time of the previous year.

Delaware North’s GreenPath team at SunTrust Park, home of Major League Baseball’s Atlanta Braves, is holding an ongoing e-waste drive at the ballpark. The drive began in early July in partnership with Secured Recycling of Atlanta and to date has collected nearly 950 pounds of electronics. The program has been well received at the ballpark and will continue throughout the season.
