Wheeling Island Hotel-Casino-Racetrack, located in Wheeling, W.Va., on July 5 hosted an Independence Day Fun Festival for the community that featured a variety of activities, food and entertainment.
Wheeling Island, which is owned and operated by Delaware North, held the festival to thank the community for their support and bring people together to celebrate the Independence Day holiday.
“We were excited to host this fun-filled festival and bring the community together for a day of celebration,” said Kimberly Florence, president and general manager at Wheeling Island Hotel-Casino-Racetrack. “With an amazing lineup of food, music and activities, there was something for everyone to enjoy at the family-friendly event.”
Guests could indulge in a diverse range of culinary delights from one of the 15 local food trucks onsite, which featured everything from classic burgers and funnel cakes to exotic treats and ice cream.
The festival offered free carnival games, inflatable attractions, a local vendor fair and live racing. Local entertainers, sponsored by Delaware North’s Betly Casino and Sportsbook, provided live music throughout the day, and beer gardens from Bud Light
were available for adult guests.
The grand finale of the day was a dazzling firework display that lit up the night sky and drew cheers from the crowd.
“I’m thankful to the Wheeling Island team for coming together to plan and execute this successful event,” said David Morris, director of marketing at Wheeling Island. “Their support turned this idea into reality and provided a way for guests to connect and have fun.”
Wheeling Island saw an increase in guests at the casino thanks to the festival, with two times the number of guests and increased food and beverage sales as compared to a normal Friday. The property will host a second event later this summer, with another fun festival scheduled for Friday, Aug. 2.
