Delaware North’s travel division recently completed its buildout at Austin-Bergstrom International Airport (AUS) with the opening of Hammer Made, a specialty clothing store, and Caffé Medici, a local coffee shop and café that is making its airport debut. The openings are part of the airport’s overall nine-gate expansion and renovation in the Barbara Jordan Terminal.
Hammer Made, which offers an array of men’s shirts, ties, t-shirts and other accessories, currently has streetside stores in Georgia, Massachusetts, Illinois and Minnesota.
“We are excited to be partnering with Delaware North on this project,” said Jason Hammerberg, CEO of Hammer Made. “We have been approached to do a number of different licensing deals in the past, but we just had not found the right partner. In Delaware North, we found a company that shares our passion for providing an excellent experience.”
Caffé Medici features a menu of coffee beverages, made-to-order sandwiches and wraps, salads, pastries and bulk coffee for taking home. As part of the “keeping Austin weird” motif, it also features a kids’ area with unique seating and opportunities for kids to make paper airplanes or express themselves with writing on a designated wall.
Delaware North has opened a variety of popular Austin-area restaurants and retail shops at the airport in the past two years. The award-winning dining and retail outlets include expanded versions of Salt Lick BBQ and Annie’s Café, Peached Tortilla, Juice-Land, Flyrite Chicken Sandwiches, East Side Pies, Tacodeli, Haymakers and I VINI, as well as BookPeople and Tyler’s Austin Warehouse, which features top-brand retail and souvenir items.
