The Westin Buffalo Assistant GM Zachary Rambuss named to ’30 Under 30′ class by Buffalo Business First

Zachary Rambuss, assistant general manager at Delaware North’s The Westin Buffalo, was recently honored by Buffalo Business First as one of the members of its 2023 “30 Under 30” class.

The regional business publication’s 12th annual class was narrowed down from nearly 150 nominations, meaning that only 20% of those nominated made the cut. Among the factors considered: career achievements, leadership and initiative, community engagement and each nominee’s potential to become a community leader on a grand scale.

At the hotel in Delaware North’s headquarters at 250 Delaware Ave., Rambuss started as the front desk manager and then became rooms division manager and director of operations. Today, working with The Westin Buffalo General Manager Tom Long, Rambuss leads a large team of employees at one of the No. 1 recommended Westin locations.

“Maybe that is because he consistently strives to create a service culture that excites and challenges team members, while exceeding the expectations of the guests,” Business First wrote in highlighting Rambuss’ selection.

Rambuss works with Journey’s End and Jewish Refugee Service to hire refugees at the hotel and facilitates the donation of linens to Grace Guest House. He has also assisted with Delaware North’s volunteer efforts to deliver meals for FeedMore WNY and in offering guest rooms to community members who are displaced due to various unforeseen circumstances.

In addition, Rambuss has created relationships with the Buffalo City School District’s Emerson School of Hospitality and with Niagara University to give hospitality students job opportunities.

“It has been great to see Zachary Rambuss develop his career at The Westin Buffalo,” said Derek Zwickey, chief operating officer for Delaware North Parks and Resorts. “Zak is passionate about hospitality and has made the most of the opportunity to learn best practices from Tom Long and others.”

Rambuss, a Buffalo native, is a graduate of West Seneca East High School and earned a Bachelor of Science in hotel management from Niagara University.
