When families are going through an unimaginable struggle, a weekend away can be a welcome distraction.
The Ridgeline Hotel Estes Park, Delaware North’s owned-and-operated hotel outside of Rocky Mountain National Park in Colorado, on March 2 hosted eight families from the Colorado chapter of HopeKids. The nonprofit provides ongoing events and activities for families who have a child with cancer or other life-threatening medical condition.
The organization’s events are provided free of charge for the entire family and provide a unique support community for families walking similar journeys.
The families stayed two nights at the hotel, with a “dive-in movie” at the indoor pool and s’mores kits to use at the outdoor firepits.
“We were thrilled to recently host HopeKids families and give the kids a break from their everyday treatments and appointments,” said Krista Davis, general manager at The Ridgeline Hotel Estes Park. “This new partnership will enrich our community involvement for years to come.”
The newly formed annual partnership will see families return to The Ridgeline year after year for a weekend stay.
"We are so grateful to The Ridgeline Hotel Estes Park for providing our families with an opportunity to escape from their daily routines and enjoy time together as a family while connecting with others walking similar journeys,” said Lisa Sweeney, program director for HopeKids Colorado. “The hotel staff was warm and welcoming, and the pool, firepits and lobby created a great space for families to connect and make new memories.
“Thank you, Ridgeline Hotel, for your generous support of HopeKids Colorado. We look forward to partnering with you to bring hope to our families for years to come."
HopeKids has chapters in Arizona, Colorado, Kansas City, Middle Tennessee, Minnesota and North Texas, and will be launching in North Carolina this year. In 2022, HopeKids Colorado served over 700 families through nearly 340 events.
