GreenPath®, Delaware North’s environmental management program, is challenging team members and locations to participate in Plastic Free July™; a global movement to help people take cost-effective actions and become part of the solution to plastic pollution for a healthier, cleaner environment and community.
Plastic Free July serves as a reminder of GreenPath’s goal to source 100% of single-use packaging from materials that are recyclable, renewable, compostable or contain post-consumer content. As work is done to reduce waste across the enterprise, Plastic Free July also highlights actions individuals can take to protect the environment.
The Plastic Free Foundation recommends individuals:
- Avoid using cleaning products packaged in single-use plastic and consider homemade alternatives.
- Choose natural clothing and furnishing fibers rather than microplastics.
- Use refillable washing liquid and buy washing powder in bulk.
- Eliminate single-use plastic bathroom products by making your own beauty and personal care items. Buy pre-made products without packaging or products in cardboard, or use an empty plastic bottle and refill it at a bulk goods store.
