Earlier this summer, Markus Werner (second from left), culinary director for Delaware North Australia and New Zealand, served as a judge in the 2026 Chef of the Year Competition at the Sydney Restaurant & Foodservice Show held at the International Convention Centre Sydney.
The competition brought together talented chefs from across Australia, providing an opportunity for attendees to connect through sharing their knowledge and passion for the field. During the competition, each contestant was required to work with ingredients from a mystery black box and create both an entrée and a main course within a limited timeframe, testing their creativity, technical skills and composure under pressure.
Werner, a Certified Master Chef in Australia and Germany, presented a cooking demonstration focused on sustainability, utilizing InvertiGro and Discovered Foods products featured in Delaware North Australia’s culinary portfolio.

Delaware North recognized National Intern Day on July 30 with a special event for interns at corporate headquarters, including lunch and talks with Sportservice President Tom Barney and Sportservice Vice President of Finance Melissa Cendrowski, who interned at Delaware North early in her career.
