The Boston Fleet of the Professional Women’s Hockey League (PWHL) took the ice at TD Garden on April 11 in front of a sellout crowd, marking a powerful milestone for women’s professional hockey. This was the first-ever PWHL game at TD Garden, where the Fleet played the Montréal Victoire, and the second largest crowd to ever watch a women’s hockey game in an arena in the United States. TD Garden has hosted several marquee women’s sporting events in recent years, including two sold-out WNBA games and three consecutive Women’s Beanpot championships.
“We see this as the next step, our continuation of support. I don’t think a sellout is a surprise to anyone,” Glen Thornborough, president of TD Garden and executive vice president and chief operating officer of the Boston Bruins, told the Boston Globe.
