BeYou members share experiences, host documentary showing for Pride Month

 VOL 26 ISSUE 26, June 30, 2025

BeYou, Delaware North’s U.S.-based Team Member Resource Group (TMRG) for LGBTQIA+ team members and allies, on June 24, hosted a special event to culminate Pride Month in June.

All interested corporate headquarters, The Westin Buffalo and Patina 250 team members were invited to attend an event focused on inclusivity and championing change led by BeYou members RafiQ Flowers, senior designer for the Creative Studio; Alfred Anderson, special projects coordinator for The Westin; and McKayla Vance, business development administrative assistant for Parks and Resorts.

More than 75 team members on June 24 attended a Pride Month event in The HUB at corporate headquarters. The event was hosted by BeYou, Delaware North’s Team Member Resource Group (TMRG) for LGBTQIA+ team members and allies.

The TMRG leaders shared personal experiences about finding resiliency and celebrating the progress made for LGBTQIA+ rights and representation.

About 75 team members attended the event and watched the New York Times documentary “How Stonewall Became Famous,” which explores the events at the Stonewall Inn in New York City in 1969, where a police raid sparked days of protests and riots, marking a turning point in the fight for LGBTQIA+ rights.

The mural, designed and painted by Brian Kenny (pictured above), was installed in May 2019 to commemorate the 50th anniversary of the Stonewall Riots featuring Marsha P. Johnson and Sylvia Rivera; both present at the Stonewall Riots and key figures in the Queer Liberation Movement.

Flowers also talked about his connection to shedding light on the Stonewall events, and in 2019 helped commission the public work of art in Dallas and the largest mural in the United States honoring transgender activists Marsha Johnson and Sylvia Rivera on the 50th anniversary of the Stonewall Riots.

All interested U.S.-based team members can join BeYou. Please email the group directly to join.
