This weekend marks the opening of the Summer Garden & Bar at Rock Center Café, replacing the famed Rink at Rockefeller Center in the venue’s lower plaza. Both the rink and the Summer Garden & Bar are operated by Delaware North’s Patina Restaurant Group.
“Every year we transform our iconic ice skating rink at Rockefeller Center into a beautiful outdoor garden dining sanctuary,” said Executive Chef Antonio Prontelli. “This year, the restaurant is introducing the ultimate warm weather treat – a customizable Ice Cream Sundae. An assortment of build-your-own, decadent ice cream sundae toppings will be available for guests to customize their very own sweet-tooth experience and take this cherished summertime treat to the next level.”
The new build-your-own sundae service will include housemade ice cream flavors with 58 million possible topping combinations. Toppings include candied pecans, brownie bites, birthday cake, chocolate covered bananas, red velvet cupcake, sugar-swirl lollipop and more.
The season will officially kick off on Saturday, May 6, when the Summer Garden & Bar will celebrate its grand opening with the largest Kentucky Derby party in Manhattan. The soiree will showcase all of the excitement of the Derby on TVs, paired with Southern-style specials, live music from Brooklyn Bluegrass Collective and more.
Throughout the 2017 season, the restaurant will host a lineup of epicurean experiences that embody the spirit of summer in the city, including a Cinco de Mayo celebration, weekday happy hour specials and a Sunday Jazz Brunch series.
