Salute to Brevard Residents FREE Weekend and Food Drive at Kennedy Space Center Visitor Complex

KENNEDY SPACE CENTER, Fla. (September 3, 2008) – As a salute to the supportive residents of Brevard County, Delaware North Companies Parks & Resorts at Kennedy Space Center, in conjunction with Florida Today, is hosting the Ninth Annual Salute to Brevard Residents at Kennedy Space Center Visitor Complex. Brevard residents and up to five guests will enjoy free admission to Kennedy Space Center Visitor Complex September 26-28 during Salute to Brevard Residents weekend. Residents need to show proof of residency, in the form of a driver's license or utility bill.

Guests are encouraged to bring canned goods and non-perishable food items to benefit the Central Brevard Sharing Center, North Brevard Charities and South Brevard Sharing Center. While not mandatory for complimentary admission, the suggested donation is at least one food item or canned good per guest.

"We are very thankful to Delaware North Companies and Kennedy Space Center for their participation, hard work and dedication to helping us help others," said Dave Brubaker, Vice President of the Central Brevard Sharing Center. "This annual food drive makes a huge difference to those in the Brevard community who are struggling to feed their families, especially during the upcoming holiday season. This is a great event that allows our community to unite for a worthy cause."

In addition to helping a good cause, Brevard residents can experience the new Shuttle Launch Experience, an incredible journey of vertically launching into space and orbiting Earth aboard the NASA space shuttle. Complimentary admission also includes the Kennedy Space Center Tour, 3D IMAX® space films, Astronaut Encounter and the U.S. Astronaut Hall of Fame®, featuring historic spacecraft, simulator rides and the world's largest collection of personal astronaut mementos.

Salute to Brevard Residents free weekend was created in 1999 to thank the people of Brevard County for their continued support of Kennedy Space Center Visitor Complex's mission: to tell the NASA story and inspire all people to support the exploration of space.

Brevard residents can enjoy Kennedy Space Center Visitor Complex year round with the purchase of a Commander's Club Annual Pass. Benefits to Commander's Club Annual Passholders include free admission to the 2008 Fall Concert Series, a three-weekend event featuring concerts in the Rocket Garden by Survivor on October 18, The Guess Who on October 25 and Rick Springfield on November 1. Annual Passholders will also receive free admission to the second annual Space & Air Show at Kennedy Space Center November 8 and 9, 2008, featuring the precision and power of the world famous U.S. Navy Blue Angels.
