Delaware North’s Salt Lick BBQ location at Austin-Bergstrom International Airport (ABIA) is about to get a Texas-sized makeover.
Construction is underway on a new, 1,454-square-foot restaurant for the beloved Austin-area barbeque known for its “Texas Hill Country hospitality.” Delaware North currently operates Salt Lick out of a 650-square-foot space in the Barbara Jordan Terminal of the airport. In addition to more than doubling the size of Salt Lick, the new restaurant will be relocated directly across from the current space between Gates 12 and 13. The new Salt Lick BBQ is expected to open later this year.
The ABIA recently posted an update about the construction on its website, where it offered some details on the brand-new Salt Lick location:
The new airport Salt Lick will have its own seating, including bar chairs, dining tables and communal tables to offer group and individual seating. Along with a large, glowing canopy of wood and metal mesh, the restaurant designs include its signature curved carving station and sangria dispensers incorporated into its rustic, industrial look. Rails for barbeque sauces and power outlets are planned at each seat along with numerous screens located throughout the distressed wood and rough stone designed restaurant.
