Trainer Charlton Baker saddles second stakes winner of the meet

FARMINGTON, N.Y. – Pretty Cozzy registered her first career stakes victory in the 32nd renewal of the $50,000 Susan B. Anthony Handicap at Finger Lakes Casino and Racetrack on Saturday. She won the six furlong sprint for New York-bred fillies and mares in a final time of 1:11.26.
 
The 6-year-old mare owned by Francis Paolangeli rallied from off the pace to secure the triumph under jockey John Davila, Jr. She earned the two length win for trainer Charlton Baker.
The $211,894 earner was claimed by Baker on February 10 for a tag of $16,000. She had two thirds and a fourth for her new conditioner before scoring the victory in Saturday’s eighth race.
The winners of the two stakes races that were run at Finger Lakes this season where both from the barn of Baker. He also saddled Al’s Deputy who took the $50,000 George Barker Handicap on May 28.
 
Pretty Cozzy recorded her eighth lifetime victory in the annual event. She was part of a coupled entry with Sweet Hot Toddy that paid $4.00, $2.30 and $2.10. Nicole’s Miss El was second and returned $2.70 and $2.10. Clean Jean finished third and paid $3.00.
The next stakes race at Finger Lakes Casino and Racetrack is scheduled for June 30. The $50,000 Ontario County Stakes for New York-bred 3-year-olds will be run at a distance of six furlongs.
