KC American Sportservice Debuts Kansas City-Style Offerings and Barbecue Sauces, and
Food Network Favorites at LIVESTRONG Sporting Park

KANSAS CITY, Kan. (June 7, 2011) – The chefs at KC American Sportservice, the food and beverage partner for the new state-of-the-art LIVESTRONG Sporting Park, have been cooking up menus that will tantalize the taste buds of Sporting KC fans for Opening Day on June 9. On June 7, those same chefs are previewing some of the specialty dishes for Kansas City media.

“We’ve had great fun exploring the local flavors of Kansas City and combining them with favorites from the 50 sports and entertainment venues we serve across the country,” said Jeramie Mitchell, a Sportservice food and beverage director and former regional executive chef. “Sporting KC soccer fans will be delighted when they see the wide variety of general concessions items as well as the premium dining options available at LIVESTRONG Sporting Park’s suites and clubs.”

New Twists on Traditional Favorites
Fans will come from all over to see Sporting KC play in the team’s new home, and now they can enjoy new twists on traditional favorites, as well as the flavors of Kansas City.

LIVESTRONG Sporting Park will serve up a wide variety of food and beverages at 30 portable and permanent concessions stands throughout the new facility. Special Smokehouse stands will feature meats smoked on the premises, such as beef brisket, pulled pork and hickory-smoked ribs, accompanied by a sauce station featuring famous Kansas City barbecue sauces and Sportservice’s own Secret Stadium Sauce.

Hot dogs, pizza, nachos and popcorn – these are just some of the traditional tastes that fans can find at the LIVESTRONG Sporting Park concessions. Many of these concessions feature special themes, such as Kansas City barbecue, southern border and kids’ favorites. In addition, chefs will grill up the KC Strip Steak Sandwich, a 5-ounce strip steak seasoned with a special blend of spices and cooked to order with mushrooms and onions, served on a fresh bakery roll with a bleu cheese spread.

The hot dog lovers at LIVESTRONG Sporting Park can gnosh on the Bacon-Wrapped Hot Dog, an all-beef hot dog wrapped with bacon, served on a fresh bakery bun with baked beans, a pickle slice, pico de gallo, spicy Dijon aioli, barbecue sauce and fried tobacco onions.

Premium Dining for the Ultimate Major League Soccer Experience
LIVESTRONG Sporting Park boasts 36 suites and five clubs, all featuring unique premium dining options. In the suites, fans can enjoy Food Network-inspired menu items, such as Buffalo Chicken Mac ’n Cheese – macaroni and cheese tossed with spicy Buffalo chicken and topped with bleu cheese breadcrumbs and baked until crispy; the Watermelon, Feta and Arugula Salad with Kalamata olives and lemon-feta vinaigrette; and the Slow-Roasted Drunken Pork Sandwich – fork-tender pulled pork in beer sauce, served on a sub roll with a crunchy cabbage-and-celery root slaw. The clubs at LIVESTRONG Sporting Park will feature a wide variety of items, including Lobster Bloody Mary Shooters, Pan-Seared Rosemary Chicken Breast servedwith a Forestiere sauce, and Shrimp and Scallop Ceviche – marinated shrimp and scallops with a tomato-lemon dressing.

“From a dining perspective, the LIVESTRONG Sporting Park is different in that one-third of the park’s menu is premium,” said Jim Cundiff, Sportservice general manager at LIVESTRONG Sporting Park. “Fans will enjoy a greater variety and higher quality food choices than they’ve seen in most sporting venues.”

Of the 36 suites, 22 connect to an all-inclusive lounge. The two-level Owner’s Suite features a 1,000-bottle wine cellar and a brick pizza oven, while the Members’ Club offers an indoor tailgating experience that will also be open for away games and other televised soccer events.
