WHAT: For the 14th year, Kennedy Space Center Visitor Complex and Brevard Public Schools are coming together to present Brevard Space Week. The full day of programming will introduce every sixth-grade student to the community’s rich history of space exploration. Leading up to this inspirational study trip, students’ classroom learning is informed through an emphasis on science, technology, engineering and math (STEM).
The curriculum, developed by NASA Education, Brevard Public Schools and Kennedy Space Center Visitor Complex, contains fun interactive space exploration activities that culminate in a trip to the visitor complex. There, students experience Shuttle Launch Experience, Space Shuttle Atlantis® and the Apollo/Saturn V Center while completing activities for their “Explorer’s Log Book.” Students also will complete an engineering Truss Build Challenge and scavenger hunt inside of the Apollo/Saturn V Center.
The program is held over a 10-day period which began in November and ends this month.
WHO: More than 5,000 Brevard Public School sixth-grade students will be attending Brevard Space Week.
