Sportservice sets concession sales records at 62nd Little League World Series

WILLIAMSPORT, PA (August 24, 2008) – Delaware North Companies Sportservice, a global sports hospitality leader and concessions provider at the 62nd annual Little League World Series, has announced the final results in its hotly-contested straw poll vote between Hot Dog and Hamburger to determine fan’s favorite concession item.

Little league fans under the age of 18 cast over 2,337 votes while attending the tournament this week. Hot Dog eventually took the victory with 1,173 votes compared to 1,164 for Hamburger.

The concession stands supported the straw poll results with fans downed over 5,000 hot dogs and 2,000 hamburgers a day during the 10 day event. Sportservice, the official concessionaire of the Little League World Series, set daily and tournament-long sales records. In addition to hot dogs and hamburgers, fans also enjoyed an estimated 15,000 sodas, 1,500 ice cream desserts, and 2,250 lbs. of French Fries and 750 lbs. of chicken fingers at the same daily pace.

Both concession stales and the straw poll reflected a global response to little league fans’ favorite concession items. Young fans from across the country, as well as Japan, Venezuela, Italy, Canada, Mexico, Saudi Arabia and Guam took part in the event. Voting and on-site concessions for the 10-day tournament was overseen by Sportservice Executive Chef Joe Ditri.
