Delaware North’s travel division and its joint-venture partners at Austin-Bergstrom International Airport in Texas this week announced the opening of Haymaker, a popular local restaurant and bar, in the airport’s Barbara Jordan Terminal, near Gate 24.
“Like many of the other Austin-born restaurants we’ve brought to the airport, Haymaker will give travelers a true taste of the city,” said Kevin Kelly, president of Delaware North’s travel division. “Beyond the well-known menu and local craft beer choices, its laid-back atmosphere and live music will certainly prove to be just as popular as the original location in east Austin.”
The original Haymaker opened in 2015 as a casual neighborhood bar on Manor Road in downtown Austin. Known for its feel-good food and wide local beer selection, Haymaker at AUS boasts a full bar with 12 beers on tap and a menu featuring its award-winning sandwiches, salads, burgers and popular poutine dish.
“We’re very proud to announce our opening at ABIA,” said Brian Pacheco, owner of Haymaker. “Thanks to Delaware North we are able to offer some of our favorites from our Manor Road location. We’re so excited to give travelers an experience they’ve never had before.”
The Haymaker airport concept displays its sense of local pride and community with local memorabilia and 10 large television screens. In the spirit of carrying on the airport’s long tradition of offering live music, Haymaker features a large entertainment stage that will feature local musicians five days a week. Haymaker also supports HAAM, the Heath Alliance for Austin Musicians, which helps local musicians find affordable health care.
Haymaker’s buildout is part of an ongoing dining and retail transformation at AUS.
Delaware North has opened a variety of popular Austin-area restaurants at the airport in the past two years, including expanded versions of Salt Lick BBQ and Annie’s Café, Peached Tortilla, JuiceLand, Tacodeli and I VINI, as well as Tyler’s & Austin Warehouse, featuring top-brand retail and souvenir items.
