Forbes.com Recognizes Several Delaware North Brand Concepts as Among the Best for Airport Food

Three Los Angeles International Airport concepts and one Austin airport concept cited

BUFFALO, N.Y. (Sept. 8, 2010) – Several Delaware North Companies Travel Hospitality Services concepts have been recognized by Forbes.com for offering some of the best airport food in the country.

Calling airport terminals “the new frontier for high-quality cuisine,” the Forbes.com “In Pictures” feature recognized several of Delaware North’s concepts as some of “the best menu options” currently at Los Angeles International Airport (LAX) and Austin-Bergstrom International Airport in Texas.

Delaware North-operated concepts named at LAX included the Encounter Restaurant & Bar. Located in the airport’s iconic Theme Building, the restaurant was touted for its “funky modern” atmosphere and “California fresh” menu.

Also given a nod was Pink’s Hot Dogs, opened by Delaware North in July of this year. Being featured in an airport was a first for the iconic Los Angeles-based brand, a popular must-see dining destination in Los Angeles for more than 70 years. In addition, Delaware North’s Wolfgang Puck concept at LAX was cited for its particularly tasty “Chinois Salad” menu offering.

The Forbes.com reviewer also selected The Salt Lick, a barbeque concept operated by Delaware North at the Austin-Bergstrom International Airport. The Salt Lick is a Southern barbecue restaurant that originated in Texas and features savory sliced briskets, as well as pulled pork and chopped beef sandwiches.

“Providing local flavors and culture at airports where we operate is not new to Delaware North,” said Matt King, president of Delaware North Travel Hospitality Services. “Fifteen years ago, our company created the Gateway ConceptSM, which focuses on bringing local, popular brands to major public venues like airports, sports arenas and other travel destinations. This approach has allowed visitors from all over the world to experience a city’s culture in every way possible.”
