Tom Barney serves as president of Sportservice. His role is based at the company’s global headquarters in Buffalo, N.Y.
As president of Sportservice, Barney oversees the Delaware North’s flagship sports hospitality and retail division, with operations spanning all major professional sports leagues.
Throughout his 30-plus-year tenure at Delaware North, Barney has held successive financial leadership roles – guiding Treasury, Corporate Development and most recently serving as Chief Transformation Officer, as well as operational leadership roles in Patina Group and Parks and Resorts.
In his role as chief transformation officer, he was responsible for developing high-impact transformation programs that improved performance, fostered innovation and aligned with the company’s vision.
As senior vice president and treasurer from October 2020 to March 2025, he played a pivotal role in guiding the company’s recovery from the impacts of the COVID-19 pandemic. He implemented a new financing structure that enabled continued investment in the business and positioned Delaware North for long-term growth.
His operational leadership includes serving as chief operating officer of Patina Group, where he played a key role in integrating the then-newly acquired restaurant and catering company into Delaware North and oversaw the opening of several new dining concepts in Boston. Barney also led finance for Delaware North’s Parks and Resorts division, supporting major expansions such as new National Park Service contracts and NASA agreements for Kennedy Space Center Visitor Complex.
Barney’s other previous roles since joining Delaware North in 1993 include financial oversight for Delaware North’s diverse Australian portfolio and director of strategic planning.
Barney has an MBA from the University at Buffalo and a bachelor’s degree in finance from Rochester Institute of Technology. In 2022, he was named chair of the Dean’s Advisory Council (DAC) for the University at Buffalo School of Management.
