El Questro and Lizard Island earn their place in the Top 10 Australian Luxury Lodges

Australian Traveller magazine’s current issue has announced its list of the ‘Top 10 Luxury Lodges in Australia’ and two properties owned by Delaware North Companies, El Questro Homestead in Western Australia and Lizard Island off the coast of Queensland, have taken second and third place on the list.

Australian Traveller is the country’s best-selling travel magazine and a high degree of scrutiny was applied to decide the top 10 luxury lodges.

“This is the sharp end of the market where the highest standards are applied, so we were brutal in our assessment of these uber decadent digs,” says Australian Traveller Managing Editor, Quentin Long.

The magazine stated about El Questro Homestead “it’s the stunning, wild and unlike-anywhere-else-in-the-world landscape that really sets this Lodge apart….Despite the luxury of egg-shaped tubs, Egyptian cotton sheets and crisp air-conditioning in your room, you’re always in the thick of nature.”

In third place, Lizard Island Resort was given this accolade “Look up “idyllic luxury Island resort” in the dictionary and it should simply state: Lizard island, 290km north of Cairns.  A keyless resort without mobile reception, TV or wi-fi in the rooms means you’re immediately immersed in holiday mode, ready or not.”

Delaware North is proud to have two properties in this exclusive list of luxury lodges.  While Saffire Lodge in Tasmania came in first “… well-established lodges, El Questro and Lizard Island were close behind in second and third,” says Long.

“The luxury lodge market has come of age in Australia. This is essential for the industry to attract the high net-worth international travellers that are so valuable to local tourism,” Long says.
