Earth Day 2025 celebrates Delaware North’s commitment to sustainability

Delaware North’s GreenPath program is a critical component of the company’s environmental stewardship and sustainability mission. The program includes initiatives to help conserve natural resources and promote ecofriendly practices among Delaware North’s team members and communities where the company operates.

While sustainability efforts take place year-round, below is a roundup of recent initiatives across the company to promote sustainability. More Earth Day and Earth Month content from locations will be shared in a future edition of 360.

Truist Park Garden Towers

The Delaware North Sportservice team at Truist Park, home of MLB’s Atlanta Braves, last week announced the installation of eight garden towers in the ballpark on the rooftop next to the Blue Moon Beer Garden.

Jaco Dreyer, executive chef at the ballpark for Delaware North, has been working closely with farmers to identify the best plants to grow – ensuring the success of the project, which is a collaborative effort with the Braves and MLB. Various plants will be grown in the towers for select ballpark food items throughout the season. Media coverage of the new garden towers included Yahoo and Fox 5 Atlanta.

Sequoia and Kings Canyon National Parks site cleanup

The Delaware North Parks and Resorts team at Sequoia and Kings Canyon National Parks in California completed a thorough site cleanup surrounding the company’s operations, removing various items such as dishwasher/dryer combos, mini-fridges, dish machines, water heaters, mattresses, plastic wrap and miscellaneous scrap metal.

The Green Team at MSP

The Delaware North Travel team at Minneapolis-St. Paul International Airport showcased its commitment to maintaining a clean and sustainable environment by wearing green team shirts on Earth Day. The shirts feature “Skip the Bag” branding, which encourages guests to forgo a bag when shopping unless they truly need it.

Tenaya at Yosemite’s Bee Garden

This Earth Day, Tenaya at Yosemite is proud to “Bee the Difference” by creating a beautiful new bee garden. The landscaping team worked hard to cultivate a space that’s not only full of native, pollinator-friendly plants, but also a meaningful step in promoting biodiversity directly on the property. The garden is a living reminder of the company’s commitment to sustainability and the natural beauty surrounding us.

Earth Month panel highlights sustainable practices, grassroots causes

Delaware North locations recognized with MLB Sustainability Awards

Last year, MLB expanded its League Sustainability Awards to recognize clubs for their outstanding achievements in energy conservation, water reduction and innovative environmental practices. Delaware North proudly operates at 10 MLB ballparks nationwide and contributes significantly to sustainability efforts.

Congratulations to our teams at the following MLB ballparks that achieved recognition:

  • San Diego Padres (Petco Park) – Green Glove Award for “outstanding commitment to diverting waste from landfills at the ballpark.”
  • Milwaukee Brewers (American Family Field) – Power Pitch Award for “exemplary efforts in preserving power and energy at the ballpark.”
  • Texas Rangers (Globe Life Field) – Achieved Gold Status from the Council for Responsible Sport during the MLB All-Star Game in 2024.

Daytona Beach and Orange City Racing & Card Clubs participate in park cleanup

On Earth Day, team members from Delaware North’s Daytona Beach and Orange City Racing & Card Clubs in Florida rolled up their sleeves at Gemini Springs Park, a 212-acre nature park featuring two freshwater springs. The team removed over 300 pounds of invasive species, including Caesar weed and camphor trees, helping to protect and restore the park’s ecosystem.

The Lodge at Geneva-on-the-Lake holds cleanup event, offers special dish

The Lodge at Geneva-on-the-Lake, managed by Delaware North’s Parks and Resorts division along the shores of Lake Erie in Ohio, hosted cleanup events for team members and offered guests a special entrée in honor of Earth Day 2025. Team members worked together to pick up garbage from the waterfront and two miles of Ohio State Route 534, which the property has adopted. The team collected 21 bags of trash in total.

Guests at the Lodge on April 22 could indulge in the restaurant special, an Ohio City Pasta Ravioli dish, featuring seasonal and locally sourced ingredients.
