Delaware North’s United Kingdom team celebrated the company’s 100th anniversary on June 25 in partnership with The Springboard Charity, which celebrated its 25th anniversary.
A group of 800 leading figures from the UK hospitality industry gathered to support and celebrate with a “We Will Rock You” theme at the Silver Diamond Ball, which was held at Wembley Stadium, where Delaware North operates food and beverage services.
The glittering event was filled with fantastic entertainment along with exquisite cuisine from Delaware North’s executive hospitality chef, Mark Reynolds, and Springboard’s FutureChef alumni. Success stories were shared from Springboard beneficiaries, and several milestones from Delaware North’s rich 100-year history were highlighted throughout the evening.
The wait staff, food, beverages and entertainment were generously donated by Delaware North and Springboard suppliers. And Delaware North’s clients at Wembley Stadium provided use of its iconic Bobby Moore Suite for the drinks, dinner and post-dinner entertainment, which included a Queen tribute-band.
Springboard’s leadership team was delighted with the event.
“I have never worked with such a great team before. Your support for Springboard is overwhelming, there was so much effort from start to finish and I really do appreciate it,” Springboard events manager Ellen Whatmore said. “The organization, service and food was outstanding and we have received such incredible feedback and kind words about the whole event.”
The Delaware North executive team hosted clients and colleagues and have received positive feedback on its food and service from many corners of the industry. The evening proved to be a fantastic celebration and further enhanced Delaware North’s reputation in the UK market.
Funds came pouring in for The Springboard Charity as more than £140,000 (more than $215,000 U.S.) was raised through a combination of a silent auction, a traditional auction and a raffle. The funds raised will support existing Into Work programs and will be invested in new initiatives that will help job-seekers of any age find a sustainable career within the hospitality, leisure and tourism industries.
The Springboard Charity helps young, the unemployed and those facing barriers to work into sustainable employment in the hospitality, leisure and tourism industries. Springboard provides a range of opportunities for sustainable employment or vibrant careers in hospitality, leisure and tourism through free specialist careers information, taster work experience opportunities, development programs to help maximize the chances of obtaining sustainable employment, pre-employment and mentoring programs and educational teaching resources, information, support and student activities to teachers in schools and colleges.
