First Time Ever for the Iconic Hollywood Brand to be Featured in an Airport Location
LOS ANGELES (July 23, 2009) – Delaware North Companies Travel Hospitality Services, one of the world’s leading airport food and retail providers, announced today that it will be opening a Pink’s Hot Dogs location at Tom Bradley International Terminal (TBIT) of the Los Angeles World Airport (LAX) later this year. This is the first time that the well-known Pink’s brand will be featured at an airport anywhere in the world, and one of only a few times that Pink’s food has been served outside of Hollywood, the town that made its hot dogs famous. Pink’s has been made famous by numerous celebrity endorsements and constant crowds of hungry customers lined up outside its doors.
“For 70 years, Pink’s has been a must-see, must-eat destination in Los Angeles for both locals and international visitors alike,” said Pink’s owner Richard Pink. “So it made perfect sense to bring a little bit of this Los Angeles nostalgia and history to LAX, one of the busiest airports in the world. This allows visitors from all over the world to experience Pink’s and its famous hot dogs, whether they plan a stop in Hollywood or not.”
Establishing a Pink’s Hot Dogs location in LAX is an example of Delaware North’s “Gateway Concept,” its longtime strategy that focuses on bringing local concepts to major public venues like airports, sporting arenas and other travel destinations. Just recently, the company announced a similar partnership with Los Angeles-based The Coffee Bean & Tea Leaf, which opened its first of two locations in LAX’s sister airport, Ontario International, in November 2008. Additionally last month, Delaware North said it would partner with Travel Channel to develop branded retail locations in airports throughout the United States.
"We’re thrilled to add Pink’s Hot Dogs to our mix of fun, highly popular local brands at the airports we serve,” said Bob Stanton, vice president of business development for Delaware North Travel Hospitality Services. "We’re on a constant quest to find innovative brands and unique retail dining experiences reflecting the local flair and cultures of the cities where we do business."
Often touted as one of the most famous hot dog stands in the world, Pink’s hot dog stand has become the Hollywood dining destination for millions over the years – from celebrities to well-known dignitaries, from businesspeople to families. Probably best known for its savory Pink’s Famous Chili Dogs, Pink’s has occupied the same Hollywood location since 1939. Pink’s offers a huge variety of scrumptious hot dogs with delectable toppings, many of which are named after celebrity fans.
