Delaware North and Kennedy Space Center Visitor Complex donated $10,000 to Brevard County Sharing Centers last week as part of its annual Salute to Brevard.
“We continue to bring Salute to Brevard back every year because our community means so much to us,” said Therrin Protze, chief operating officer of Kennedy Space Center Visitor Complex, which Delaware North operates for NASA. “We look forward to welcoming our neighbors in the weeks to come as we collect supplies for Brevard County Sharing Centers. This local organization works tirelessly to ensure everyone in our community has the supplies and the support they need, and we are proud to partner with them on this effort.”
Salute to Brevard offers admission savings to residents of Brevard County in Florida — where Kennedy Space Center Visitor Complex is located — from Oct. 22 through Nov. 4. Guests are encouraged to bring canned goods and non-perishable food items, baby formula and food, and hygiene products, which will be donated to Brevard County Sharing Centers.
“This past year has been our busiest on record,” said David Brubaker, president and chief executive officer of the Sharing Center of Central Brevard. “Many families are still trying to make ends meet after Hurricane Irma affected Brevard County in September of 2017. Last year we provided more basic needs services than any previous year. This includes served meals, emergency food, health & hygiene items, baby formula & diapers, and even the number of people seeking a warm night from the cold. The continued support from Kennedy Space Center Visitor Complex has had a huge impact on our ability to meet the needs of those coming to seek help. Their engagement with the Sharing Centers speaks volumes on how much they care about our community and those who struggle to make ends meet. We are proud to call them a community partner.”
In total, the visitor complex has donated $50,000 to Brevard County Sharing Centers over the last three years and more than $187,000 to United Way of Brevard from its 2017-2018 workplace campaign.
