Delaware North Parks and Resorts giving guests tree saplings to celebrate Earth Month

Planted trees can remove more than 340,000 pounds of carbon dioxide from the atmosphere

Delaware North, a global hospitality and entertainment company, is celebrating Earth Month in partnership with Sierra Nevada Brewing Co. by offering guests at 13 parks and resorts locations across the United States a tree sapling to plant in their community. The planted trees will help fight climate change by removing carbon dioxide from the air and releasing oxygen into the atmosphere.

21-0510_dn_pr_earthdaypromo_640px_v4-3034525From April 18 to May 2, guests will receive a tree upon check-in to take home and plant, contributing to clean air in their community. The 7,120 tree saplings that will be distributed through the Roots of Sustainability project have the potential to remove up to 341,760 pounds of carbon dioxide from the atmosphere once they have matured. Guests will receive a tree sapling native to the park location where they are staying – either a blue spruce, ponderosa pine, western white pine or snakebark maple.

Delaware North is sponsoring The Canopy Project through EARTHDAY.ORG to plant another tree for every tree planted by guests and shared on social media using the hashtag #explorebetter. The initiative was inspired by Earth Month, which includes the global events of National Park Week (April 17 – 25), Earth Day (April 22) and Arbor Day (April 30).

The 13 locations within Delaware North’s parks and resorts division that are participating are:
