TACOMA, Wash. (Sept. 28, 2011) – LeMay – America’s Car Museum (ACM) held the first major gala at its new nine-acre location this weekend. More than 650 board members and benefactors were dressed to impress in the “construction chic” dress code called for by the “Hard Hat & High Heels” fundraiser.
Delaware North, a global leader in hospitality and food service, assists with sales and marketing, as well as maintaining the facility and providing food, beverage and retail services for the Tacoma, Wash., attraction.
The Hard Hat & High Heels event included a reception, dinner, silent and live auctions, plus tours inside the facility. The four-level, 165,000-square-foot facility is currently under construction, but is already filled with 500 cars and exhibits. A grand opening of the new LeMay –America’s Car Museum location is set for June 2012.
The silent and live auctions raised more than $550,000 for the museum.
“Hard Hat & High Heels” is part of ACM’s ongoing $12 million “Race to the Finish” campaign, a two-year drive designed to raise funds for operational support as the new museum prepares to open next year. Funds raised will support collection preparation, exhibit development, educational programming, student internships, library acquisitions and archive development.
