Position: President, Delaware North, Gaming

E. Brian Hansberry is president of Delaware North’s gaming division. Delaware North is a global leader in hospitality and entertainment with more than $3.7 billion in annual revenue from operations at high-profile places such as sports and entertainment venues, national and state parks, luxury resorts, restaurants at landmark locations, major airports, and regional destination casinos.
Delaware North is one of the most innovative gaming operators in the country, specializing in gaming venues with amenities such as table games, video gaming machines, poker rooms, racetracks, full-service restaurants, retail shops and hotels. The company owns and operates successful regional destination casinos in New York, Illinois, Florida, Arizona, West Virginia, Arkansas, and Ohio. Among the company’s top casino properties are Jumer’s Casino & Hotel in Rock Island, Ill., and Wheeling Island Hotel-Casino-Racetrack in West Virginia. It also operates food service at Choctaw Casino Resort in Durant, Okla.
Hansberry came to Delaware North in May 2013, bringing more than 30 years of senior-level leadership in the gaming industry, including president and chief executive officer positions. In 2009, he was recognized as one of the “Top 25 Executives to Watch” by Global Gaming Business magazine, and his experience includes operations, strategic planning and capital development.
Under Hansberry, Delaware North successfully developed and opened the $165 million Miami Valley Gaming in December 2013. The Ohio gaming venue, a joint venture with Churchill Downs Inc., features 1,600 gaming machines, harness racing, a simulcast racing center and several restaurant and entertainment options. The company in 2014 also developed and opened a $38 million expansion of Southland Park Gaming & Racing in West Memphis, Ark. The addition of gaming machines and Sammy Hagar’s Red Rocker Bar & Grill, a partnership with the rock legend, has helped Southland Park continue its growth in the Mid-South gaming market.
In addition, Delaware North is set to develop and operate a new gaming facility in Suffolk County on Long Island.
Prior to joining Delaware North, Hansberry spent three years at Agua Caliente Casino Resort Spa in Rancho Mirage, Calif., initially serving as general manager before accepting a promotion to chief operating officer after being credited with turning around the flagship property.
From 2007 to 2009, Hansberry served as president and chief executive officer of Seneca Gaming Corp., overseeing Western New York casinos in Niagara Falls, Buffalo and Salamanca. Among his accomplishments, Hansberry recruited a senior management team, established a strategic plan for the organization, and oversaw significant annual revenue growth. With Seneca Gaming, Hansberry also led the three-year development of the $350 million casino in Salamanca.
Hansberry began his career as a dealer at Resorts International’s casino in Atlantic City, N.J., but was soon promoted to the role of operations assistant casino manager. He has also served as vice president of casino operations at Players Island Casino in Lake Charles, La.; director of operations at Isle of Capri Casino in Lake Charles; and casino manager at the Sands Hotel and Casino in Atlantic City.

A graduate of Rutgers University in New Jersey, Hansberry has held gaming licenses in New York, California, New Jersey and Louisiana.
