Of the 5,000 people who work at Scotland’s Glasgow Airport, one employee’s commitment and passion stood out over the past year — earning Derek Stewart, head storeman supporting seven Delaware North retail outlets in the airport, the ‘Unsung Hero’ award at the airport’s annual awards ceremony.
Stewart, who has worked at Glasgow Airport for 25 years, was recognized for actively seeking out opportunities to assist not just his Delaware North colleagues, but also people from other companies who work within the airport. He frequently provides help and advice to ensure Delaware North’s operations in the airport run smoothly.
“To ‘Think Guest’ is a hallmark of GuestPath, Delaware North’s proprietary customer experience platform,” said GuestPath Director Bradly Sax. “We have many types of guests, most notably our customers, fellow team members and our clients. Going above and beyond and being a champion of service delivery to all types of guests gets noticed, as is the case with Derek Stewart. We celebrate his outstanding example of what it means to Think Guest.”
Delaware North’s food and drink operations at Glasgow Airport were also shortlisted in three of the ten award categories.
“The individuals and teams shortlisted represent and uphold our values, and played their part by delivering for our customers and always going the extra mile,” said airport CEO Derek Provan of the finalists.
